Head Instructor
Welcome to Headstart Hockey! I have been teaching and coaching children the fundamentals of hockey for over 14 years. I am confident that my instructors and I have the experience and qualifications to get the most out of your young hockey player. I have been in charge of Whitby’s Development CHIP program for the last 9 years and each and every weekend I get an opportunity that most don’t in being able to share the skills and lessons that I learned throughout my hockey career with these young players who are always eager to learn a new skill and are not satisfied until they do. I thoroughly enjoy each and every day on the ice and I look forward to the opportunity to challenge each player and to see them enjoying the game I love!

I began working with Nate at CHIP 8 years ago, not knowing how much I would love coaching hockey. I have had the pleasure of having great coaches throughout my playing years, and now being able to teach these kids gives me a great sense of pride and accomplishment. It means a lot to me when I hear parents and kids say how much I’ve helped them from anything from their shot, skating, or even tying up their skates. You really get a sense of how much you mean to the kids when you see them away from the rink and they shout out, “Hey, coach!” I really enjoy what I do and I will continue to coach for many years.See you on the ice!

The game of hockey has been a part of my life for the past 19 years and about 10 years ago I received the opportunity to put my hockey skills into a coaching environment towards young children. After my first season coaching at CHIP (Canadian Hockey Instructional Program) it was personally rewarding and inspirational seeing the substantial improvement of the kids at the end of the season. Over the past 11 years I have gathered theory and practical tactics that I wish to implement throughout the course of the summer. I’m hoping my knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for the game of hockey can be passed on to the kids I teach, week in and week out.
